Environmental Services include the following:

Solid Waste Infrastructure Project – Solid Waste Transfer Stations are located in Cass Lake, Onigum, Inger, Bena and Ball Club communities.  The sites are transfer stations used for waste collection, recycling and disposal of solid waste on Leech Lake Reservation. 

Environmental Health Program conducts samples of community and non-community water systems for:

  • chloroform bacteria
  • fluoride
  • lead/copper
  • inorganics
  • radionuclides
  • synthetic-organic compounds
  • volatile organic compounds

Basic water chemistry tests are conducted accordance with monitoring schedules set by US Environmental Protection Agency Safe Drinking Water Regulations. Analytical results are indicative of safe drinking water supplies and in full compliance with federal mandates.

Health and Safety Services are provided through health inspections at various Home Day Care Operations, Food Service Facilities, and Reservation owned operations.  Housing inspections are conducted to identify substandard conditions as requested by community members.
