MISSION STATEMENT

Leech Lake Early Childhood provides quality services
to empower children, families and staff.

We provide experiences that foster positive
social emotional development and school readiness.

We promote safe and healthy lifestyles through
family partnerships, nutrition, health and transportation services.

We provide opportunities to educate parents / guardians
to become prime educators and advocates for their children.

We hold the Anishinaabeg Language and Traditions
to the highest degree with respect and value for other cultures.

Leech Lake Head Start is licensed throught the Leech Lake Reservation with the capacity to serve 238 children throughout our six sites, which total 14 classrooms. Our classrooms are open nine months a year, Monday - Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and our bus runs range from across the street to 140 miles round trip.

Our enrollment priorities are as follows:

Children with Disabilities
Returning Students
Low Income Families
High Risk Children: single parents / foster children / living with grandparents / incarcerated parents
Children of Leech Lake Tribal Members
Children of other Federally Recognized Tribes
Children eligible for kindergarten or who have not received Head Start services
Children of non-tribal members
Children who turn three between September 1 - December 31
